Services to honor the life of Ted R. Cook, 89, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 4, 2024, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Shane Nugent, Pastor of Cross Point Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
Ted was born October 23, 1934, in Joaquin, TX and passed away September 29, 2024. Ted grew up in Sterlington, LA and graduated from Ouachita High School in 1953. He later graduated from Hinds Jr. College in Raymond, MS and it was there that he met the love of his life, Carolyn Harrell. After graduating from college, he and Carolyn married.
Ted was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent two years active duty in Washington state. After being discharged, he and Carolyn located in the Shreveport area and Ted formed The Bossier Company. First and foremost, Ted was a Christian and worshiped at Cross Point Baptist Church. He was active in several civic organizations and was a member of the Bossier Parish Police Jury for several years. He also served as an Officer at the former Bank of the Mid South and was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, George J. and Iva W. Cook; his wife, Carolyn Harrell Cook; and brothers, Charles H. and Gary A. Cook. Left to cherish his memory is his sister-in-law, Mary Cook; brother-in-law, Chris Harrell; aunt, Irada Oates; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; his sitters, Paulina Wilkerson and Katina Baker; and his two pets, Blue and Boots, who were his family.
Pallbearers are Gary Cook, Jr., Steven Cook, Jerry Wilhite, and Jarrett Wilhite. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Gholson and Chris Harrell.
