November 5, 1940 - January 8, 2022
Mom was born in Huntsville, Alabama on 11/05/1940 at her sweet parent's home parents Roy and Anna Laura Allen. Shelly Jean (as Paw Paw used to call her) would be the second born of 7 children in that family. Mom passed on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the age of 81 at Willis Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport due to congestive heart failure.
She worked for Christus Schumpert on Margaret Place for 31 years in Pediatrics. When she retired from Christus Schumpert she started and finished keeping babies at Bellaire Baptist Church Daycare in Bossier City, LA for more than ten years. We encouraged Mom to retire and rest but she quickly told us she loved her babies too much to retire. She would always say I don't want to sit around and do nothing. Mom's true passion were children of all ages.
At 81 years old she still worked, exercised, shopped, drove and provided for herself. She was one of the gang anytime any of us got together and loved everyone one us. She was commonly called Momma Shirley by most. She worked Friday, January 7, 2022 and came home and passed away 1:30 am Saturday, Janaury 8, 2022. As stated above she never sat around. She was and will always will be a true inspiration not only for her family but her friends as well.
Mom was preceded in death by her beautiful, sweet parents Roy and Anna Laura Allen and her brother Jerry Allen.
She is survived by her siblings, brother, David Allen & wife Merilee Allen, sister Joyce Lee, sister Liz Hayes, sister Judy Quick & husband Wayne Quick and sister Alice Farrow husband Steve Farrow. She is also survived by her three children, Jerry Allen, Michael Allen wife Melanie Allen and Melissa Sanders husband Scott Sanders. Grandchildren, David Allen, Daniel Allen, Holly Allen, Kaytlin Arrington husband Ryan Arrington, Peyton Allen wife Jenny Allen, Emily Sanders, John Molina and numerous great grandchildren.
Mom, you will be truly missed by all. We love you!!!!!!
