She was born in Bossier City on June 15, 1957 to Miriam and W.A "Frank" Fortner. Sheila spent her short time on this earth sharing her gift of singing, and love of music to many. She had a voice that was blessed by God, and she had the opportunity to share her gift with many people. Sheila didn’t care if it was singing around the kitchen table during a family holiday gathering with her mom and three sisters, or at the Louisiana Hayride singing alongside Ferlin Husky in front of hundreds of people, she just wanted to sing.
The only thing that would make her heart smile more than singing was her two Children Joshua "Josh" Mayfield, and Jennifer "Jenny" Burke. She was full of love for them, and no matter what stage of life she was in she never missed an opportunity to express how proud she was of them.
Sheila would admit to many that she wasn’t perfect in life, and didn’t always make the best choices. Sheila would encourage you that she knew the forgiver, and the peace maker who brought her home to be with her mom and dad Miriam Fortner Martinez and Frank Fortner; Sister(s) Margie Woodard, Susan McGinty, and Patricia DuBois.
Sheila's memory will be shared by her Son and Daughter in law Josh and Niki Mayfield with grandchildren Emily, Jordyn, Kylee, and Kolton. Daughter and Daughter in law Jennifer and Rhonda Burke with grandchild Kameron Burke. As well as a numerous other cousin, nieces, and nephews.

Curtis Spears officiating, at 2pm on February 5, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park located at 601 Hwy 80 East, Haughton, La 71037.
