Our “Mimi” as she was affectionately called by her grandson, “Toots” as she was called by her husband, “Momma” by her two daughters, as well as “Rock Thrower” by the kids growing up, was an amazing, Wife, Mom, Grandmother, Daughter, Person, and Seamstress of Clothes like no other could be.
Sally’s story starts on June 8, 1947, the oldest child to William and Jeanette Renois. Sally was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, an alma mater she holds proudly.
Sally went on to college at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. It was during her first semester where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Edwards in a math class. It was a beautiful love story as the two got married on July 22, 1966. Kenneth adored his wife and spent his lifetime making sure her life was comfortable. Sally went on to give birth to the two joys of her life, Carol Ann Frazier, and Jeanette “Jenny” Edwards Horning. Sally loved her daughters. She was so proud of the fact that both of her daughters received their college degrees and the youngest, Jeanette going on to receive her Master’s degree. Sally loved being a Mom, but discovered the role she loved even more, was that of being a Grandmother to Joshua Alan Frazier. She was known affectionately in this role as “Mimi.”
Sally had so many gifts. She never met a stranger, and she could size up immediately whether you were a good person or not. Sally was right 99.99% of the time. One of those times was her welcoming her Son In Law, Dave Alan Horning into the family. Sally always treated him as a Son and loved how Dave treated her daughter Jeanette and the whole family through the years.
The Loved Ones that will miss Sally until they meet again are her devoted and talented husband of 56 years, Kenneth Wayne Edwards, beloved daughter and piano enthusiast Carol Frazier, her outspoken and protective daughter, Jeanette “Jenny” Edwards Horning and her beautiful and wonderful husband, Dave Alan Horning, and her playful and Hollywood-like grandson, Joshua Alan Frazier. Sally was preceded in death by her Mother, Jeanette Baugh Renois, her Father, William Renois, Sr. her Sister, Mary Ann Young, and Brother William Lowell Renois, Jr. Sally was the oldest of three children.
And lastly, Sally Leigh Renois Edwards was a Child of God. Sally raised her children to learn about and love Jesus Christ. Her family will always love and miss her but also get comfort knowing the Angels have welcomed her and that she is sewing a beautiful garment in Heaven.
The family wants to thank Dr. Kennedy Lim of Bossier City, Louisiana for over 23 years of service for being Sally Edwards’s physician. They would also like to thank the caregiving agency, Loving Tender Care located in Shreveport, Louisiana, and their caregiver, Deborah Dawson for her love and support.
A private ceremony with family will be held in her honor.
