Randall “Randy” Thomas Smith, age 44, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, June 13th. He was born on July 20,1977 in San Antonio, TX. Randy moved to Haughton in the 8th grade and attended Airline High School graduating in 1995. After graduation, he attended Bossier Parish Community College where he received a degree in General Studies. He then attended the University of Louisiana Monroe where he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice, in 2000. Randy met the love of his life, Katie on a blind date set up by two of their best friends in April of 2004. They were later married on November 11, 2006. Randy’s pride and joy, Brelynn, was born September 4, 2007. He served on the BPFD #1 for 17 years and volunteered as a Haughton Police Department Reservist for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Haughton where he was always willing to serve.
Randy is preceded in death by his father Billy Smith, his step-father Gerald Trainer, and father-in-law Grady Lee, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Katie Smith; daughter, Breanna Lynn “Brelynn” Smith; mother, Louise Trainer; stepmother, Cynthia Smith; brother, Bradley Smith; half sister, Shay Lynn Smith Barnette and husband Lenton; half brother, Carter Smith; stepbrothers Mark Trainer and wife Anita, Shawn Trainer and wife Robin, Steve Trainer and wife Janet; mother-in-law, Jhan Lee; brother-in-law, Benjamin Lee and wife Wendy; nephews, Caleb and Caden Lee and Ledger Barnette; niece, Koen Barnette; and his special cousin, Kristyn Smith-Ladshaw “Fragle” as well as many other cousins, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the pallbearers Matt Moore, Britt Moore, Jason Hathorn, Frank Harper, Chris Pierce, Glenn Clark, and Todd Gibson. We appreciate the service of the BPFD #1 honor guard as well.
A visitation will be held for Randy on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 10 AM at Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
