Pedro Santiago-Melendez

Pedro "By The Book" Santiago-Melendez, age 81, of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023. Pete was born on June 3, 1942 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to the late Dionisio Santiago-Lebron and Hipolita Santiago-Melendez. He served this grateful nation by enlisting and serving over fifty years with the United States Air Force. Pete enjoyed cooking, feeding friends and family, dancing, traveling, and spending quality time with everyone. He took great pride in always being the life of the party.

Pete is preceded in passing by his parents; his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Yolanda Santiago-Rosado; one son, Larry Manuel Santiago; two siblings: Marcelina Rivera, and Ramon L. Santiago.

Left to cherish Pete's wonderful memories will be his two daughters: Catherine Santiago, Marta Hernandez; two grandchildren: Amanda Hernandez, Larry Hernandez; six siblings: Antonio "Tony" Santiago, Luz E. Tosado and spouse Santos Tosado, Gladys Santiago and spouse Osvaldo Figueroa, Julia Santiago, Judy Alvarez and spouse Gabriel Alvarez, Maria Velez; along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

A a celebration of life memorial service for Pedro will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. Immediately followed by a family gathering for receiving of guests and memory sharing until 12:00 PM.

Memorials may be made in honor of Pedro "Pete" Santiago-Melendez to a Military foundation of your choosing.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the Dr's and nursing staff of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and Christus Highland Hospital for the personal care, professional treatment, and friendships developed during this difficult time. They would also like to thank their family and friends for the calls of concerns, prayers and condolences during this time.
