Norma was born to Henry and Effie McNeely in Negreet, Louisiana, on April 1, 1928. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 21, 2017. Norma lived a life devoted to the service of others. She graduated from Highland School of Nursing in 1948 and worked as an R.N. for over 30 years. She served as Nursing Supervisor at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital and was honored as Nurse of the Year in 1977. She was married for 52 years to the love of her life, Bronze Star recipient Chief Master Sergeant Walter H. Richardson. Their time together as an active duty Air Force family took them to Puerto Rico, Tampa, Florida, and ultimately back to Bossier City, Louisiana. Norma was the devoted anchor and matriarch of the Richardson family. She was a gracious hostess and a renowned Southern-style cook. Norma’s faith was central to her life and she loved reading the Scriptures for inspiration and comfort.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, and five sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her children Marcia Banks and husband Wayne, Deborah Hill and husband Don, Jan Richardson and partner Jan Elkins, Melissa Nycum and husband Matt, and Michael Richardson and husband Geno Mendiola; her grandchildren Shaun White and wife Tracie, Sheila White, Bradley Burns and wife Libby, Stephanie Harris and husband Cody, Haleigh Mendiola, and Hunter Nycum; her great-grandchildren Raven Sims, Sydney Smith, Jake White, Neely Burns, Brianna Burns, Connor Burns, Logan Burns, Anthony Harris, and Christine Harris; and her great-great-grandchild Hayze Hutcheson.
