Michael Andrew Martinez, affectionately known as Squirrel to many, passed from this earthly life on November 5, 2023. He is finally free. If you didn’t know him by name, you may have known him by his appearance. He was always in overalls, had a beard and crazy hair. Mike was a living example of, don’t judge a book by its cover. His outward appearance may have been rough but he had a heart of gold. He gave to others continually.
Mike was a hard worker, retiring from Local 141 after 30+ years of welding and pipefitting. He loved an adventure. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, and exploring. He lived his life his own way and didn’t waste a single day. Mike loved people and a good get-together. He loved his family and those he chose to call family with his whole heart.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his children, David Martinez and Heather Harris; the mother of his children and “the only woman he’ll ever be married to”, Deanna Martinez; Grandchildren, Ariel Black, Mallie Harris, and Sawyer Harris; Great-Grandchild, Liam Black; Brother, Harold “Marty” Martinez (Louise); Sisters, Mary Defrieze (John) and Phyllis Gorman; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; Special friends, Mike Brimer and David Lindy.
Michael was preceded in death by; his parents, Harold and Hilda Martinez; Sister, Debbie Crippin; infant sister Mary Magdeline Martinez; Brother-in-law, Travis “Baldy” Gorman; Special friends; and a lot of good dogs.
The family would like to thank the staff of the WK Cancer Center, especially Sabrina, Dr. Katz, Byria, Dr. Gallagher, “the blood suckers” on the second floor, and the beautiful lady who works the port lab window.
A very special thank you goes to Joey Crippin. The last few weeks have been hard but because of you they were a little easier. God’s love and grace were evident in the way you were with our daddy. Aunt Debbie couldn’t be more proud. The love you have for your “Uncle” is apparent.
