She graduated from Bossier High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Army for 6 years until 1962. Marie achieved the rank of Captain.
Marie received her Bachelor’s Degree from LA Tech in education, and then attended Northwestern State University where she completed her Master’s Degree in Dietetics. She became a Tenured Professor and Dietician for the University until her retirement in 2002. Marie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers, especially African Violets. Marie was President of the local African Violet Association for many years. She adored pets; she always had a little dog. She also loved traveling the country and made it her goal to visit every U.S. National Park.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Napoleon Westbrook; mother, Anne Besse Mosley Hanna; stepfather, Leroy Hanna; brother, Carroll Westbrook and sister-in-law, Betty Huval Westbrook.
Marie is survived by her nephews, Carl Paul Westbrook and wife Amy Lopez Westbrook and David Michael Westbrook and wife Tracy Sonnier Westbrook; great nephew, Zachary Paul Westbrook and great niece, Bailey Marie Westbrook.
Services will be held to celebrate Marie’s life at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Reverend Ken Norton officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will began at 12:00 p.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Carl Westbrook, David Westbrook, Zachary Westbrook, Gene Morris and Vernon Carroll.
