Lillie Jewel Watson Johnson was united with the love of her life, her husband of 47 years, Douglas Johnson on Monday, August 2, 2021. She was born February 7, 1929 in Liberty, Arkansas to the late Byron Augustus and Lillie May (Price) Watson.
Lillie Jewel was a devoted wife and mother who spent her life being a homemaker. She enjoyed listening to Doug play his fiddle on the Louisiana Hayride. They also made numerous camping trips to Shady Lake in Arkansas. She loved spending time with the grandkids. She was dearly loved by all who knew her, especially her family, and will be missed.
Lillie Jewel was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband: five brothers, Everett Watson and wife Eunice: Vollie Watson, Byron Watson, Wayne Watson, Eugene Watson and wife Nell; two sisters: Hazel Nipps and husband Garland, Maxine Ulmer and husband James.
She leaves to cherish her memories in this world her daughters, Debbie Richie (Bobby) and Jan Lea (Bill) along with four grandchildren, Brian Lea, Paul Richie, Josie Lea-Kuglin (Mark) and Jill Richie Prime (Jeremy), two great grandchildren Kayla Lea Beebe (Henry) and Cameron Richie and one great great grandchild, Hunter Beebe. She is also survived by four siblings: brother(s) Dennis Watson and wife Patricia of Blanchard, La.: Dwight Watson of Conway, Ark. and two sisters Virginia Cash of Huntsville, Ala. and Pauline Stevenson of Springdale, Ark. In-Laws: wife of Vollie, Sue Gibbs Watson, wife of Byron, Alzora Phillips Watson: wife of Wayne, Annette Wesson Watson, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
The family offers great appreciation for the loving care from: The staff and “Family” of Brookdale Assisted living; and the staff and nurses at Pilgrim Manor that so gingerly comforted her in her final days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation prior at 9:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home, Haughton, Louisiana at the Mausoleum Chapel, with Bro. Billy Pierce presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
