Funeral services for Mr. Larry “L.J.” Earnest, Sr., 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Spirit Wind Church, 5280 Benton Road, Bossier City, LA 71111 with officiators Pastor David Jarrett and Brother Billy Pierce. After the service, the burial will be at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery in Haughton, LA followed by a light luncheon reception. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service Thursday morning.
Mr. L.J. Earnest was born on September 7, 1938 in Thorton, Arkansas. He left this world March 6, 2023. L.J. was a well-respected, successful road contractor in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas for many years. His true passion, however, lied in his love for his family, his dogs and his farm.
He was preceded in death by: his parents Osbern J. and Eva Pearl Nutt Earnest; his love and wife Beverly Earnest; sister Dorothy Shahan; and sister-in-law Betty King. Mr. Earnest is survived by: his son Joey Earnest (Terri); daughter Samantha Earnest; grandchildren Justin Earnest (Jennifer), Katie Smith (Matthew), Brandon Creel, Sarah Szwak, Sam Szwak; and two great-granddaughters, Caroline and Katherine Earnest.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Earnest, Brandon Creel, Sam Szwak, Matthew Smith, Bruce Creel and Warren Cantrell.
The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to Trish Harper, Pam Kirkpatrick and Dr. Todd Flowers. The care and attention they gave Mr. Earnest will forever be appreciated.
