Born on the Ramey Air Force Base, in Puerto Rico, on April 11, 1962, James was the second of four children and enjoyed his early years traveling the world with his family. They traveled and lived all over to include: Alaska and Western Europe.
Later, Jim followed in his father’s footsteps, serving his country, only enlisting instead in the U.S. Navy and committed over seven years, including tours in Cuba and Spain.
James was an avid reader—and it was rare to not find him with a book in his hand! He loved and quite frankly, was gifted in music, as he learned to play the trumpet, and eventually picked up the guitar and the piano each, teaching himself and learning to play songs, by ear. He loved his classic rock and his large collection of albums, cassettes, CD’s, up to his iPod all to include his favorites, The Beatles. Jim even began writing music himself and found great joy strumming and singing.
He had a flare for the great outdoors, carrying on his father’s love of fishing as they had fished for trout and salmon in his youth and enjoyed fishing with his friends and family the entirety of his life. He passed this down teaching his daughter how to fish, while stationed in Cuba, from the shoreline, just a stones-throw from their home, or off the piers, and renting pontoon boats to knock about Guantanamo Bay, mostly night-fishing. What marvelous family adventures.
And Jim had one more little passion that not everyone knew, the feel of the open road on his Harley Davidson. Additionally, he had the mind of an engineer and mechanic. Jim rebuilt two, 1975 Datsun 280 Z’s. He was always tinkering with some sort of electronics. He was cool !
