She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Lee Case and Edna Maude Eubanks Case.
She is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Allen; brother, Jessie Lee Case Jr.; daughter, Casey Allen Lockhart and husband, Allen; two grandchildren, Allison Lockhart and Claire Lockhart Backofen and husband, Kyle; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was blessed with honorary children, Robert Lockhart, Ryan and Susan Gatti, and grandchildren, Brandon Lockhart, Amy Lockhart, William Lockhart, Katherine Gatti, Elizabeth Gatti, Rebecca Gatti, and Charlotte Gatti.
Glenda graduated from Ouachita High School in 1962 and Northeast Louisiana State College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. She taught in Monroe City Schools, Rapides Parish, and Bossier Parish during her 30 years as an educator.
Glenda, also known as “Mimi”, was an amazing wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, as well as a talented artist, crafter, seamstress, cook, and baker. It is impossible to count the number of projects and hours of love poured into altering dresses, making clothes, costumes, bibs, and quilts, painting, doing stained glass, making jewelry, and taking on house projects. She lovingly made extravagant birthday and wedding cakes. With her endless array of talents, her granddaughters coined the phrase, “Mimi ‘fisset’(fix it)” - she could fix anything from a hole in your pants to a bad day.
Glenda and Mel were married a few weeks shy of 59 years. They were a true example of a timeless love. Together, they spent their days giving and caring for each other as well as others.
