Eddie Braswell was born on October 14, 1941, in DeKalb, Texas and passed away on December 4, 2022, at the age of 81. A celebration of life service will be at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark Goins officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.
Eddie lived most of his life in Bossier City and graduated from Bossier High School in 1959. He was kindhearted, joyful, and always saw the good in others. Eddie was devoted to his family who he loved dearly. He enjoyed watching sports, especially LSU football, and looked forward to afternoons at the Elks Lodge visiting with friends.
Eddie worked as a pressman at the Shreveport Journal and Shreveport Times and retired after 44 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City where he volunteered in the church’s “Souper Saturday” outreach ministry. He was also a member of the Shreveport Elks Lodge, GCC/IBT Union, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Braswell and Lois Braswell Jackson, and stepfather, John S. Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elsie Braswell; daughter, Jennifer Christy and husband, Micah of Birmingham, AL; son, Jason Braswell and wife, Melissa of Tyler, TX; grandson, Camden Braswell and granddaughter, Piper Braswell; step brothers, Jack Jackson and wife, Marla; John M. Jackson and wife, Jana and their families; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Bergeron and Alice Irving of Baton Rouge, LA; niece, Gwen Braud of Baton Rouge, LA and nephews, Brian Browning and wife, Shauntelle of Baton Rouge, LA; Lee Browning and wife, Crista, of Dallas, GA; five great nieces, one great nephew and a number of cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City or the church/charity of your choice.
