A Celebration of service will be held for Duane Newton on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Rev. Billy Pierce will be officiating the service. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Duane was a pilot in the USAF for the B-29 and the KC-97 refueler. He also worked in the space industry, Aerojet General, McDonald Douglas Space, Chrysler Space, Chrysler Automotive, Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant, Harrah’s Casino, and the Isle of Capri. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, and was involved in several organizations: American Legion, Elks Club, Local Fly Fishing Clubs, Gem and Mineral Society and Former Civil Air Patrol.
His hobbies include cutting and re-cutting gemstones for several jewelers in Shreveport, LA. He also built an entire N-scale train layout, from design on paper to building and painting it, including the backdrop.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bart Newton.
Duane is survived by his wife, M. Dewyene Newton; daughter, Sheri Newton Riley and husband, Ray; sons, Erik, Drake and Micah Newton . He is also survived by his grandchildren: Carie Seay and husband Rob, Mindy Donaho and husband Jeffery, Cameron and wife Amy Newton, Emily Newton, Stephenie Newton Marze and husband Daniel, Kyle Newton and Nathaniel-Mae and Mnemony Newton; and great grandchildren: Bret, Landry and Brady Donaho, Hagen and Garrison Marze.
