Services for Daniel Hamilton Waters, 40, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Open Door Fellowship Baptist Church in Coushatta, LA., officiated by Bro. Randy Tisdale with Bro. Steven McAbee assisting. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hall Summit, LA. There will be a brief visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Daniel was born on April 4, 1980 in Peru, IN and passed away on September 27, 2020 following a 17 year courageous battle with glioblastoma cancer. He was at home in Hall Summit, LA when he passed, surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was a kind hearted young man who was very likable, well mannered, and well thought of. As a military child, Daniel traveled all over the world with his family. He graduated from Belleville Township High School East in Belleville, IL and proudly graduated as Valedictorian in 2013 from Dallas Institute of Funeral Services. He and his wife, Jessica, shared a love of movies, music, and video games. Concert hopping was “their thing”. The longing of Daniel’s heart, however, was to have a child. For five years, he and Jessica tried to conceive and finally succeeded with the birth of their son eleven months ago.
Daniel is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sydney Lamar Waters, June Couvillion Waters, and Preston and Nora Brinkley. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Jessica Long Waters; his son, Elias Hamilton Waters; parents, Merel Hamilton Waters and Mary Waters; brother, Steven Lamar Waters and wife Holly Longino Waters; nephew, Caleb Waters; step-niece, Carrie Ann Shaver; in-laws, Susan and Richard Gray; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Matthew and Christian Long; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
Serving as pallbearers are Kent Brian, Dr. John Brian, Randy Campbell, Reace Campbell, Jesse Tettleton, and Carlos Wesbrooks, with Matt Spruill as alternate.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Gary Burton of Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, Dr. Nanda, and Dr. Guthikonda along with the staff of Willis Knighton Hospice for all of their care and compassion shown to Daniel during his many years of illness.
