Brian J. Gravitt, age 62, met his Lord and Savior face to face Saturday, December 21, 2024. A Celebration of a life well lived will be held on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, Louisiana at 1:00 pm, graveside, Friday, December 27, 2024 with Bro. Harrell Shelton officiating.
Brian was born on October 31, 1962 at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana to Neal and Gloria Gravitt. He faced many health issues the first years of his life. Growing up in Bossier City, Brian was taught to love, share, respect others, and to work hard, which he did. He attended Apollo Elementary, Greenacres Jr High and graduated from Airline High School in May, 1980.
Although he faced many difficulties in his life, Brian was determined and worked hard to make his life the best. He worked for several apartment complexes in security and maintenance, Burlington Coat Factory for many years and for the Shreveport Times in the circulation department.
Brian loved music especially playing the guitar. He was self-taught on guitar and electric guitar. His neighbors often heard him playing music, most often jazz music. He collected guitars, record albums, CDs and cassettes. His favorite song was “Hey Jude” by the Beatles. Brian was an avid reader and he loved to travel, visiting Hawaii multiple times. Brian also loved being on the computer, reading the Wall Street Journal and studying his investments, also keeping up with national news and interesting stories which he often shared at family dinners.
He is preceded in death by his father, Neal Kohler Gravitt,; his grandparents; and aunt, Brenda Henderson Pickett.
Brian is survived by his mother, Gloria Henderson Gravitt; sister, Cathy G. Scott; brother, Barry N. Gravitt (Lanette); nieces, Jennifer Chancy (Sean), Amy Martinell, Lindsay Gravitt; and nephew, Ryan Gravitt; great nieces, Kennedy Gravitt, Kellen Chancy, Raegan Martinell; and great nephew, Tatum Chancy.
Brian will be greatly missed by his family who loved him deeply.
