A “Celebration of Life” service for Joe Tilley, 76, of Bossier City, LA will be held at First Baptist Church of Bossier City on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends at First Baptist Bossier from noon until time of service. Officiating the service will be Bro. Sonny DePrang and Rev. Andy Harris. Interment will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Mr. Tilley was born in Bryceland, LA on December 18, 1937. He went to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 24, 2013, after a long battle with heart disease. He retired as an account manager with Nabisco after 27 years of service. Joe was probably better known as the founding father of Tilley’s Manufactured Housing, which he started in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bossier, where he was a deacon, and served in many capacities and different ministries.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Tilley; mother, Lucy Ozley Tilley; sisters, Pansy McLemore and Betty Hunt.
He is survived by his wife Glenda Tilley; the mother of his children, Joyce Tilley; his daughter, Debi Tilley; sons, Greg Tilley and wife Wendi, Scott Tilley and Todd Tilley. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Tilley and wife Paula and stepsons, James Clevenger and wife Jill, Steven Clevenger, and Darrell Clevenger and wife Lacy. He has 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The pallbearers honoring Mr. Joe Tilley are Chris Tilley, Matt Tilley, Jared Bassett, Mike Bassett, Paul Horne, and Steven Clevenger. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Connell, Vince Maggio, Jerry Causey and Marcus Oswalt.
