Lonnie Mosley

Lonnie Eugene Mosley Sr passed away at the age of 75 on August 20th, 2024 at his home in Cumberland Gap, TN. He was born to Addie Lee Harrison and Miphra Mosley in Barbourville, KY on January 11th, 1949. He met Joyce during a get together with their relatives. They were later married on January 12th, 1971. He was the proud father of four children, Lonnie Eugene Mosley Jr, Anthony Ray Mosley, Daniel Lee Mosley and Melissa Lynae Gamble. In his early adult life Lonnie worked for East Kentucky Steel. He helped assimilate the locking system in the doors that would soon be used in the construction of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He later worked at the coal mines in Virginia and briefly worked as a welder before eventually working and retiring at Clayton Homes in Rutledge, TN.

While living near Barbourville, KY they welcomed their first three children Lonnie Eugene in 1972, Anthony Ray in 1974 and Daniel Lee in 1979. Later on after moving to Cumberland Gap, TN they welcomed their daughter Melissa Lynae in 1984.

Lonnie greatly loved nature and Jehovah’s creation. Second to being a family man, he was well known for his love of the outdoors. He was an expert hunter and fisherman. If you were a friend of Lonnie’s you would never go without fresh fish and he always had a story or two to share.

Lonnie was first acquainted with Jehovah’s Witnesses back in the 70’s when his wife Joyce began studying the Bible. He began his own study in 2014. After progressing in his knowledge of the Bible, he dedicated his life to Jehovah in 2020 by water baptism. He took great comfort in the hope of the resurrection and the promised Paradise Earth. For anyone who knew Lonnie, knew these three things to be true; he loved his family dearly, he loved the outdoors and he had a sincere love for his great God Jehovah.

Children and their spouses: Lonnie Eugene Mosley Jr of Middlesboro, KY, Anthony Ray Mosley of Tazewell, TN, Daniel Lee Mosley of Harland, KY and Melissa Gamble (Gerard), who reside in De Leon Springs, FL.

Siblings: Sam Mosley of Big Stone Gap, VA, Janis Stidham of Wildcat, VA and Bonnie Rhodes of Middlesboro, KY.

As well as 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a large family of spiritual brothers and sisters.
