He lived and loved his wife Imogene Cobb for 66 yrs who preceded him in death by 11 months.
He was the son of Will and Cora Smith and the son-in-law of Jim and Retta Cobb. He had 8 brothers and sisters who preceded him in death also his beloved daughter-in-law Jane Berry Smith.
He leaves his loving children behind: Kathy Smith, Micheal (Faye) Smith, Jeff Smith and Sharon (Mike) Patton all of Speedwell and Nancy ( Sam ) Sproles of New Tazewell.
Grandchildren whom he loved so dearly: Scott and Chris Hoskins, Nikki Mason, Tyler (Brittany) Smith, Travis (Shelley) Martin, Amy Jo (Daniel) Howe and especially Alicia Patton.
He also leaves behind 8 great grandchildren and his brothers Roger(Chris), Roy Gene(Blanche) and his sister Wilma(Gene) Muggridge.
He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War and was retired from the U.S.
Park Service.
He gave the gift of music to a multitude of people. He inspired and taught a number of young guitar pickers that we all enjoy today including his own two sons.
He was loved and will be very missed.
The family will receive friends Tuesday August 7th from 6 until 8 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The funeral will follow at 8 PM in the chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A graveside service will be held Wednesday August 8th at 11 AM in The Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
