She was born on November 22, 1946 in Meyersdale, PA, and was the daughter of the late Ray Edwin and Evelyn Pauline Tressler Doerr.
Linda lived her early life in Maryland and moved to Elkton where she and her husband were in the cattle business until his death in 1985. Later in 1987 she purchased M & S Auto Parts which she sold in 2009. She was an entrepreneur and philanthropist; her latest venture was owning and operating the Rivercrest Farm & Event Center. She was president of Autodealz, Village of the Valley, and various other local businesses. She was a very talented floral designer and enjoyed decorating for Christmas, and having many open houses in her home during the Christmas holidays.
Linda was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church and also attended Elkton EUB Church. She was a very caring and giving person, who gave to various charities.
On November 26, 1968 she married Paul A. Dovel, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 1, 1985.
She is survived by a son, Paul A. Dovel, III, of Elkton; two sisters, Florence May “Snookie” Friend of Accident, MD, Nancy Jean “Sam” Deckman of McHenry, MD; two brothers, Carl R. Doerr of Thompson, OH, Ronald R. Doerr of Accident, MD; a devoted niece, Nancy Jo Fratz Shelton of Shenandoah, VA and Deep Creek MD; other numerous special nieces and nephews; an aunt, Marvette Hollada of Salisbury, PA; two uncles, Tony Tressler of Jarretsville, MD, and Don Tressler of Ft. Hill, PA, and many wonderful and special friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John D. Doerr.
The family will receive friends, 6:00-9:00 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. Peters United Methodist Church in Elkton.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton with Pastor Rick Robertson officiating. Burial will be at the Methodist Cemetery in Shenandoah.
