He was born on January 2, 1950 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Offit Garland and Minnie Catherine Runion Caplinger.
Larry was an IT Programmer while serving in the US Army.
He was married twice, his first wife, Josephine Sanchez Caplinger and Margene Mobley Caplinger, both preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Larry A. Caplinger, II, of Rockingham; a daughter, Michelle Pate (Billy) of Indianapolis, IN; numerous grandchildren, including granddaughter, Ashley Smallwood of Rockingham; grandson, Jordan Caplinger of Indianapolis, IN; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Caleb Smallwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
