He was born September 26, 1940 in Plainview, TX, and was the son of the late James B. and Dorothy Russell Lusk.
Gary graduated from La Junta High School in La Junta, CO in 1958. He loved music and golf; he was a member of the Luray Caverns Country Club.
Gary was a drummer for Tom T. Hall and lived in Nashville, TN for 25 years. He played for President Jimmy Carter at the White House and his homecoming to Georgia. He was a recording artist for Mercury Records under the stage name Gary Sargeants; he had six singles of his own.
In December 1973, he married, Barbara Ann Campbell Brubaker, who survives.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
