Fred Wayne Combs was born in San Francisco, CA, and after many years and moving across the country, he finally settled on the east coast in Harrisonburg, VA.
He was a man of many hats having a variety of jobs from running the family donut shop, being a California Highway Patrolman, to Nuclear Power Plant Security. Fred was later baptized in 1988 and joined his wife traveling and building assembly halls and later serving as a ministerial servant in his local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Fred was known for his infectious sense of humor and his knack for making others laugh. With a goofy spirit and an open heart, he loved telling stories and always went out of his way to help those around him. He always had a smile on his face and made sure everyone else did too.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Cammie Combs, and his three children, Kristy Weeks, Fred Combs, and Michael Combs. He was “Papa” to his five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin brother, Frank Edlund.
