Robert E. Updike

Robert E. Updike, 73, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2016 in the company of loving family and friends in Lower Paxton Township. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Janet Updike.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Anna, of 38 years with whom he enjoyed his retirement. They were married in Harrisburg, PA on December 25, 1977.

Robert is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jody Updike (significant other Paul Rhen) of Dauphin; son, Eric Updike (wife Sharon) of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Hallie Rhen; brothers, James Updike (wife Sherry), Joseph Updike (wife Jean), Raymond Updike (wife Angela); sisters, Patricia Stone (husband Ralph) and Arlene Focht (husband Charles) and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born on March 1, 1943, in Harrisburg, PA and attended the William Penn High School. Robert was retired from Bethlehem Steel, where he worked as a Caster Operator for nearly 40 years.

Robert enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping with his family on the Susquehanna River. His favorite hobbies included: wood working, gardening, working on his cars, perusing the local flea markets, and playing chess with his family. Robert attended the Stone Glen Church of God in Dauphin, PA and was a member of the Dauphin Middle Paxton Home Association.

A memorial service will be held at the Stone Glen Church of God, 1030 Stony Creek Road, Dauphin, PA 17018 on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Celtic Health Care, 150 Scharberry Lane, Mars, PA 16046.
