Joyce is survived by her loving daughters, Janet E. Smedley, married to Bert Concklin of Lititz, PA, and Barbara A. Hutchinson, married to Bill Hutchinson, of Shippensburg, PA, her three adoring grandchildren: Andrew Hutchinson, Phillip H. Hutchinson, Diana S. Egnatz, all from Lititz, PA, and her sister, Betty Hare, of Port St. Lucie, FL. One of her great joys was spending time with her family.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Smedley, Jr., to whom she was married for 54 years. For many years, they enjoyed spending the summers in their vacation home in Castine, Maine. Many special memories were created there, as the family often would vacation together in Maine. Joyce and Jim also enjoyed traveling together and with friends in this country and in Europe.
Joyce was an accomplished artist, bringing beauty into the world through her watercolor and oil painting and most recently through her photography. She was an avid member of the Willow Valley Camera Club.
At Willow Valley, where she lived for 20 years, her many friends enjoyed her artistic talent, her pretty smile, her optimistic outlook, and her concern for others.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Lancaster, PA for 20 years.
To celebrate Joyce's life, we invite you to the following services:
On May 1, 2013 at 9:30 a.m., her daughter, The Rev. Barbara Hutchinson, of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Shippensburg, PA will preside at a Requiem Eucharist at the chapel of St. James Episcopal Church in Lancaster, PA.
