She was the widow of Harlan B. Simmons.
Surviving are a son, Jeff A. Simmons; a daughter, Linda Milankow; a grandson, Brent; a granddaughter, Barbara; a sister, Doris and a brother, William.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Beatrice.
Helen was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels and other local community services including the War College hospital. She was a civilian RN all of her adult life.
She served as an Army Nurse for almost 5 years during WWII in Africa, France, Italy, and Germany. She achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant and received the prestigious Bronze Star for meritorious service. She recently donated most of her WWII artifacts to the local War College Museum.
Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
