Born in Glen Dale, WV, to the late Hollie and Margret (Hartzell) Walker. David moved to Palmyra in the 9th grade, graduating from Palmyra High School in 1972. For the next six decades David lived a wonderful life in Central Pennsylvania. He had a long and successful career as a beautician and hairdresser; and was the former co-owner of Great Lengths Hair Salon in Camp Hill. His success was as much due to his personality as his professional skill. He formed many close and long-lasting friendships with his loyal client following. Everything he did he did well; with a touch of class and an eye for perfection. He relished cocktails and long dinners with the people he loved and for years made entertaining an art form. Later, David’s passion was cooking and watching cooking shows; forever trying new recipes but always adding his own personal touch. His wit and charm lit up every room; he was fiercely loyal and extremely devoted to his friends and family.
David is survived by his brother Ron (Marty) Walker of Hershey, PA; his nieces Michele (Craig) Smith of Hummelstown, PA, and Debbie (Dr. Rich) Duszak of Atlanta, GA; his nephews, Kevin (Amber) Walker of New Market, VA, David Gettings of New Mexico, and Carl Gettings of North Carolina; as well as many great-nieces and nephews. To David, his friends were as close as family and the ones he has left behind are too numerous to count. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy, Shari and Carolyn Jo, and by his brother Alan (Fred).
David is now at peace and pain free after living several years being tormented with terribly debilitating back pain. He was full of life – of love – of laughter; and he will be greatly missed.
Plans for a private burial are being made by the family.
