Christopher G. Engle, 72, of Harrisburg, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at UPMC Osteopathic Hospital. Born January 13, 1949 in Harrisburg; he was the son of the late R. Glenn and Phyllis (McCoy) Engle. Surviving is his beloved wife of 51 years, Dorothy McAuliffe Engle; son, Chad C. Engle and daughter, Kara M. Engle and husband Eric Atallah; three grandchildren, Katearie and Marley Engle and Cole Atallah; and brother, Craig Engle and wife Annamarie. He was preceded in death by his brother in law Thomas McAuliffe who was married to Maggie McAuliffe Kirsch. Chris was a graduate of the Class of 1966 at Central Dauphin High School. After graduating high school, he was offered and completed a Machinist Apprenticeship at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He worked as a machinist at ArcelorMittal for 46 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Union. Chris was a jack of all trades who loved working with his hands and fixing just about everything. He took much pride in building his own home and maintaining it. He had many hobbies including reading the newspaper, working on crossword puzzles, landscaping his yard, enjoying wildlife and bird watching. One of his greatest joys was coaching his kids' soccer, baseball, and softball teams and watching his kids and grandkids compete. He was the most kind and caring man who was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM at the church before the Mass of Christian Burial. A Luncheon will take place at the Colonial Country Club immediately following the Burial.
