Anthony T. Spagnolo (aka Tony) passed away on August 24, 2019. He was a life-long resident of Harrisburg, Pa. He was well-known and respected by all who knew him. After serving in the Navy, and marrying his wife Catherine, he initially worked as a printer at Middletown Air Force Base. Then he opened Tony’s Sub N’ Steaks, worked for St Catherine Laboure Parish and was a Swatara Township commissioner for 38 years. He served on the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement Board, and other community boards. His efforts lead to the Capital Area Greenbelt extension through Swatara Township. His volunteering and other activities included Circus Fans of America, Dauphin County Home volunteer, Boys Scouts mentor, catering for Saturday night bingo at his church, Hershey Park volunteer, and volunteering for many events and activities throughout Swatara Township. He is survived by 2 sons (Anthony, Jr. and Steven), daughters-in-law Pat Spagnolo and Sheila Spagnolo, 4 grandchildren (Alicia, Ryan, Marisa and Julia) and 5 great grandchildren (Caty, Cole, Vander, Farris, Atticus and one on the way) 3 sisters (Angie Acri, Helen Parshall and Mary Mammola) a brother (Phil Spagnolo), 3 sisters-in-law (Carol Spagnolo, Pat Spagnolo and Esther Noggle) and a brother-in-law (Al Mammola).
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday at St. Catherine Laboure, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, Pa. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery across the street. Viewing will be held on Wednesday August 28th at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg from 5pm-9pm.
