Dwight Wilbur Padgett

Mr. Dwight Wilbur Padgett, 70, of 673 Rabbit Hwy., Harmony, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on July 1, 1943, he was a son of the late Luther Hicks Padgett and Mabel Margaret Barnett Padgett. Mr. Padgett was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He spent 23 years in a distinguished law enforcement career which included serving as a Highway Patrolman in Iredell and Mecklenburg Counties, a former Magistrate, a Campus Police Officer at UNCC and finally retiring as an A.L.E. Agent. He then spent the next 15 years at North Iredell Middle School in charge of the busing. He was also a member of the F.O.P. and enjoyed NASCAR. On June 13, 1987, he married the former Juanita Wilcox who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Dale Wayne Padgett and his wife, Robin of Mt. Holly and Mark Edward Dancy of Michigan and a daughter, Janet Dancy Fox of Harmony along with two grandchildren: Landon Nichole Padgett and Conner William Fox.

Services celebraating Mr. Padgett's life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 15th at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Gwaltney officiating. He will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery with burial rites presented by the N.C. Highway Patrol Honor Guard. The family will then receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the committal.
