He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Matilde G. Garza; sons, Guadalupe Ricardo Gonzales and Jose Garza.
He is survived by his daughters; Martha G. (Samuel Jr.) Reyes of Phoenix, AZ, Herminia G. (Arnold) De Los Santos of San Benito, Dora Garza of Harlingen, Lucy Garza of Rio Hondo and Irma (Adalberto) Garcia of San Benito; sons, Guadalupe (Elena) Garza, Jr., and Juan (Vicky) Garza of San Benito; 30+ grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was employed with the Texas Highway Department for 41 years and enjoyed every day while he was there.
He served in the US Navel Service during World War II serving as Seaman Second Class and was entered into service on 7/12/1945 on the naval ship USS Denver. After his tour of duty he was honorably discharged from the naval service on June 10, 1946, from Camp Wallace, Texas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 1 p.m., and continue until 9 p.m., with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m., in the Funeraria Del Angel Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. Interment will follow at San Benito City Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers: Juan Garza, Guadalupe Garza Jr., Samuel B. Reyes,III, Michael David Reyes, Eric Daniel Reyes, Ruben Cortez Jr., Guadalupe Ricardo Gonzales, Jr., Jose Luis Gonzales.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Funeraria Del Angel, Cemeteries, Mausoleums and a Dignity Memorial Provider, 2906 S. Expressway 77/83, Harlingen, Texas 78550.
