Olan Matthew Hensley, of Woodburn, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at The Cedars in Leo. Olan was born in Smith (Harlan), Kentucky on April 9, 1942 to George and Clara Hensley, the youngest of six siblings. He graduated from Harlan High School and moved to Indiana to work construction, eventually finding a home with C&C Construction out of Ft. Wayne. He worked his way up to superintendent until leaving in 1976 for Indiana Construction in Ft. Wayne, where he worked 30 years before retiring. Olan met his wife of 44 years, Patricia Faye Napier, in 1961, while working in Indiana. They moved around the eastern side of the country following work and had two children, Jeff and Mike before settling in Woodburn, Indiana, in 1976. Olan enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, and maintained a near self reliant life-style raising nearly everything needed on seven acres. In addition to his parents, Olan is preceded in death by sisters, Ludie Shope and Mary Smith; brothers, Baylor, Wright, Lonnie, and Waverly; and by his wife, Patricia Hensley. He is survived by son, Jeff (Kristy) Hensley of Bluffton, and Mike Hensley of Woodburn; grandchildren, Dustin (Kaylee) Hensley, Collin (Anna) Hensley, Audra (Ryan) Hilker, Natasha Hensley, and Nicholas (Brittany Ann) Hensley; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral will be at Westwood Fellowship Church in Woodburn, Indiana, at 12:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at the church cemetery in Woodburn.
