Trula, who was a Coal Miners Daughter, grew up to be a lovely young lady in Appalachia, Virginia. That’s where she met the love of her life, Wayne, who came home one weekend with her Uncle Lester as they were Army buddies both based at Fort Eustis, Virginia. She told a story of how she first saw Wayne walking up the road towards the house, said it was love at first sight and said she knew she was going to marry him. Throughout the 6 months they dated, Wayne would hitchhike from base to see her. They went out to the movies, to the diner where they enjoyed listening to music on the tabletop jukebox, they spent time with the family and played with her little sisters and brothers. Trula and Wayne married in 1959 and raised their 5 children as well as Trula’s baby sister Lila. At times they looked after other brothers and sisters that were more like their own kids, all of whom they loved and protected.
Trula’s pride and joy were her grandbabies and great grandbabies. She even had a license plate frame on her car that read “Happiness is Being a Grandparent”.
Trula loved helping and befriending the elderly. She was very kind and sensitive and worked many years for the County of Fresno In Home Services Department where she developed great friendships with her elderly clients. Once they retired, Trula with the help of her daughter Lisa, cared for Wayne until he passed away in 2012. Lisa and Trula traveled back to North Carolina several times over the years and loved spending time with family. Lisa lovingly cared for Trula through the years as she grew older and up until the time Trula passed on into God’s loving arms. Trula had a giving heart and regularly donated to several organizations.
She loved the Lord and prayed that all of her family and friends would be saved.
