1933-2014
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather James Gayle Broaddus Sr. passed away on June 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Elk City Oklahoma on November 28th, 1933.
James Gayle lived in the Kings County since 1961. He was a lineman for Southern California Edison for 33 years. He was a dedicated family man and an avid sports fan who coached his sons in Hanford Little League for many years. Many nights and weekends were spent cheering on his grandchildren in football, baseball, basketball and softball. In addition to his family, he loved Oklahoma Sooner football and the New York Yankees.
He was known for his quick wit, generous heart and imparting valuable life lessons to all blessed to know him.
James Gayle is survived by his wife of 55 years, Whitney Broaddus, son Jim (wife Hermie), daughter Julie Broaddus-Flores, son John (wife Ida), daughter Tracy Broaddus-Belsan (husband Ken). He is also survived by grandchildren Shayna Broaddus, Michael Belsan, Andrea Broaddus, Megan Rhea, Nathaniel James Broaddus, Timothy James Broaddus, Mahalia Amor and Jamie Broaddus. Great-grandchildren Autum Halsey, Joshua Halsey, Hayden Keeney, Gracie Halsey, Silas James Belsan and Scarlett Halsey, brother Alwyn Broaddus (wife Sue), brother Ed (wife Bella), sister Betty Whited (husband John) and numerous nieces and nephews.
James Gayle is preceded in death by his father J.G. Broaddus, mother Florence, brother Kenneth Broaddus and sister in-law Helen Broaddus.
At his request, a private celebration of life was held on June 15th, 2014 and his remains will be taken back to his beloved Oklahoma.
