Obituary of Ray Allen "Buzzy" Bryson Jr.
Ray Allen “Buzzy” Bryson, age 63, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 4, 2011. Buzzy was born on April 10, 1948 in Henderson, North Carolina to the late Ray Allen and Lennie Faye Bryson. He lived in Hampton, Virginia for 56 years and spent his remaining years with his sister in Yorktown. He was a consumer at the ARC of Virginia Peninsula until 2009. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hampton for 26 years and was a member of its Happy Class. Buzzy enjoyed life and was a member of Explorers Post 140, enjoyed Special Olympics, bowling, Sock-Hops, traveling and many other activities. Buzzy never met a stranger. His smile brought joy to anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He was sent from God to teach us compassion, unconditional love, and boundless faith. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. Buzzy is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Vick and Wayne Vick, Jean Murphy and her husband Gene, Teresa Brady and her husband Ron; nieces and nephews Kathy Johnson, Joe Vick, Sherri Campbell, Joshua Brady, Patrick Murphy, and Jesse Brady; many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. The family thanks Kelly Wynne of Agape Home Care for her compassionate care of Buzzy. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9 at Parklawn Memorial Park. Following the interment, a Celebration of Life Service will be at noon, at First United Methodist Church of Hampton, with Rev. Dr. Michael Lee Nelson presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Buzzy’s memory to the Happy Class, First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Queen St., Hampton, VA 23669 or to The ARC of the Virginia Peninsula, 2520 58th St., Hampton, VA 23661-1228.
