A native of Baltimore, MD, Lou was a resident of Hampton, VA for the past 58 years. After joining the U.S. Air Force, he served two tours in the Vietnam War, received a Bronze Star medal, and retired as a Lt. Colonel after 20 years of service on October 31, 1973. Lou was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, VA, the Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA), Bronze Award USAF, and he was a Mcdonogh Alumni.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Teresa Kopp. Lou is survived by his wife of 17 years, Gladys Kopp; sons, Louis G. Kopp Jr. (Anne), Stephen M. Kopp, David A. Kopp; daughter, Linda Kopp Smith; grandchildren, Heather Smith (Nathan), Ryan Smith (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Katelyn Shaffer, Jillian Smith, Logan Smith, Jake Smith; and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 10:45 AM on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Chapel Mausoleum of Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, Va 23666.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an Alzheimer's organization of your choice.
