Lester Norman Berry Jr.

MSGT. Lester N. Berry, Jr. passed into his eternal home on June 22, 2022, at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA with his wife Olivea Berry at his side. Lester was born March 23, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Margaret and Lester Berry. He grew up in Rockville Center, NY and upon graduation joined the United States Air Force and retired after 24 years of service.

Lester lived his life under the Buddhist faith of Soka Gakkai International USA. His spirit will live forever in Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.

He leaves loving and lasting memories with his wife, Olivea; daughter, Jackquelyn Harve of Columbia, SC; son, Lincolyn Gray of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Brandi Crawford of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Carlton McLain of Graham, NC; niece Hope Owens El of McKeesport, PA; Grandchildren, Destini Gray, Charisma Reese (Waylon); Michael Barber; Carrin Gray; Malik Jordan; and Shamoni Mewborn. Great grandchildren Kaleah, Kehlani, Milan, and Jacari. Sister-in-law, Gloria Gaddy of Holbrook, NY;

Lester was preceded in death by his parents (Margaret & Lester Berry), sister (Donna McLain), and late wife (Mieko Berry).

The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 12:00pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Lester’s life will be held 11:00am – 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
