John Leo Lafferty

John Leo Lafferty of Newport News, Virginia passed away on December 29, 2018 from liver cancer. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He attended Northside Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Darlene Lafferty; daughter, Dana Brenner and husband Scott; grandchildren, Savannah Rose Brenner and Aiden John Brenner, of Newport News; aunts, Maxine Whittaker and Florence Kielb; sister, Judy Audet and husband George; nieces and nephews, Kim Audet, Danielle Audet, and Steven Audet and wife Shelly, and Mike Audet all of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gertrude Chapman Lafferty; aunts and uncles, Marcella Chapman, Hazel Olson, Orville Chapman, and Willy Chapman.

A celebration of John’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in John’s memory to the Peninsula SPCA.
