Born to Willie Inez and William Wayne Dixon in North Carolina he was one of six children. John grew up surrounded by love and support from his family as well as his friends and peers. John showed that he was man of true faith as a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church of Yorktown, Virginia. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol and AOPA.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Fannie Mae Dixon; his daughters Theresa Lynn Dixon; and Kimberly Dixon Rose (Timothy); his sisters Jencie Faye Dixon Craft, Kay Fran Dixon Carter and Wanda Inez Dixon Carr; his grandchildren Avery (Formerly Kody) Rose, Jacob Rose (Victoria) and Tyler Rose.
John was preceded in death by his father William Wayne Dixon and his mother Willie Inez Harrell; his brother William Carroll Dixon and his brother Edward O'Neal Dixon.
A funeral service for John will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM at inside the Mausoleum Chapel at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666.
