“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
~John 14: 1-3 ESV
Joann was extremely special to those close to her. She lived her life to serve God after being saved in elementary school and continuing her walk with God throughout her life. After God, family was the most important thing in this world to her. She loved her family with everything she had and would do anything she could for them. Caring, gentle, and most of all, loving, describe the compassionate nature that she expressed through her devotion to serving those around her. Joann was born on July 28th, 1975. She attended Bethel Christian School from kindergarten until graduating in 1993 and went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Psychology at Christopher Newport University. Joann and Allen McCoy married in 2000 and shared 21 years of marriage together. Liberty Baptist Church has been her church home for the last 15 years. Joann’s favorite memories included traveling with her son, Matthew McCoy; shopping and going out to eat with her mother, Pamela Gibson, and her sister, Jessica May; and she loved doing anything with her father, Thomas Gibson.
Joann’s faith ensures us all that she is home in the presence of God. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but there is comfort in knowing the joyful reunion that awaits in Heaven.
