Franklin retired from the Newport News Shipyard as a Blueprint Supervisor in May 1986 after 43 years of service.
He was a World War II Army Combat Veteran in the European Theater and participated in five major battles. He enjoyed bird watching, his pets and also had a great sense of humor. He was the youngest of 4 children.
Franklin was preceded in rest by his father, Elliott N. Bryant, mother, Emma Crumpler Bryant and three siblings.
Survivors include his spouse Dolores L Bryant of 69 years, son Franklin N Bryant, Jr., daughter Marie Bryant Fox, grandchildren Michele Fox, Kim Haynie, and Adam Bryant, and 11 great grandchildren.
Contributions can be made to the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Foundation in his honor.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am on Friday, March 27th, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, Hampton. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am with interment to follow at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
