Donald was born December 28, 1934 in Hampton and raised in Yorktown. He was the second of four children. In 1952, at the age of 17, Donald married his soulmate and loving wife of 63 years, Rose Forrest Tyndall. Donald and Rose met in high school by fate after his school in Yorktown had a fire and the students were bussed to Poquoson. Their union never lost that special chemistry that so many couples seek but never find. Donald made his career at Dominion Virginia Power (VEPCO) where he wore many hats and moved with the company to Smithfield, Northern Virginia, and Williamsburg. He retired after 42 years at Dominion as Director of Construction. Donald often said that “while he loved his job, it was the people that he would miss the most.” Donald was a sports lover and avid golfer; he coached many youth teams over the years and enjoyed serving his community and was a member of the Rotary Club. In Northern Virginia, Donald was a founding member of a Methodist Church and served as the head of the church’s construction. Upon retirement, Donald used his love for the community and construction and spent his time selling and working in real estate on the Peninsula. A dedicated friend to all who knew him, Donald always had a positive outlook on each day, no matter the challenges. He was a strong and kind man who loved life to the fullest. Donald leaves a deep hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Donald is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Donna (Steve) Jackson; son, Forrest (Rosanne) Tyndall; grandchildren, Corie Forrest, Brittany Tyndall, Whitney (Brian) McLellon, and Sean Tyndall; great-granddaughter, Luciana Sandoval; siblings, Ella McDonnell, Edward Earl Tyndall, Jr., and Steve (Jane) Tyndall; and many nieces, nephews, and other close friends and family.
