Virginia Louise King Cole, age 88, passed from this life on March 5, 2021. Virginia enjoyed a full life and treasured her family. Virginia Louise King Cole was the youngest of six children and was born at home in Austin, TX. on April 2, 1932 to W. R. King and Emma Ada Cravat King. Virginia attended school in San Angelo, TX and graduated from Buena Vista High School, Imperial, TX. After graduation, she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Midland, TX. Later, she moved to McCamey, TX and worked for West Texas Utilities. In the 1970’s, after her children were older, Virginia returned to work as a bookkeeper for McCamey Oilman, C. W. Brown.
On June 6, 1953, Virginia married David B. Cole in Carlsbad, N.M. and they were married 67 years. Virginia was a devoted Christian, a faithful wife, a loving Mother, a dedicated grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Rankin Church of Christ, Midkiff Church of Christ, and Park Heights Church of Christ. Virginia served in various capacities in the Rankin and Midkiff churches utilizing her office skills. After moving to Hamilton in 2003, Virginia served as a volunteer for the Hamilton General Hospital Auxiliary and the Brownwood Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Virginia was a member of the Betty Martin Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Temple, TX.
David and Virginia attended the Pecos River Family Encampment for more than 40 years introducing their children and grandchildren to Jesus and the promotion of Christian principles. They faithfully attended the encampment for many years until health issues prevented them from going.
Predeceasing her in death were her parents, W. R. and Emma King, brothers John Morris King, A.C. King, Wilford “Snooks” King, Lawrence King and one sister, Norma Marie King Fortner. Also, recently predeceasing her in death was her loving husband, David B. Cole.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Deborah K. Roberson and husband Larry of Bixby, OK, son Donald D. Cole and wife Lillis of Hamilton, daughter Susan E. Norman and husband Dusty of Bastrop, and son Steven M. Cole and wife Becky of Mansfield. She has 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Service for Virginia King Cole, age 88, of Hamilton will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at the chapel of Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton. Tom Moore, Minister at Park Heights Church of Christ will officiate the service. Virginia will be laid to rest at 1:30 pm in the Zephyr Cemetery, Zephyr TX, beside her husband, David.
Pallbearers are Justin Gill, Dustin Miller, Russell Miller, Davis Cole, Tyler Cole, and Damien Cura.
The Cole family would like to thank the staff at Focused Care, Dr. Johnson, and the Mission Hospice staff, especially Hospice nurse Lesli Wright. Your loving care of Virginia was invaluable to the entire family. Your constant attention to her needs touched our hearts.
