Robert Seldon Batte, 81, of Hico passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at The Golden Age Nursing Home in Dublin. The service was held Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 10:30 AM, at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton. Interment was at The Black Cemetery near Hico.
Robert was born July 15, 1930 to James E. Batte and Gladys V. Riggs Batte, in O’Donnell, Texas. Robert served in the United States Army. He married Mary Carr, June 13, 1966 in Meridian, Texas. They lived in Troup, Texas for 38 years where he was a Rancher and moved to this area 12 years ago.
Mr. Batte was preceded in death by his parents and by one daughter, Mickie Sue Benison.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary (Kat) Carr Batte of Hico; two sons, Robert A. Batte and wife Betty of Oregon; Larry Batte and wife Vanessa of Colorado, four daughters, Cori L Batte Garcia and husband Mark of New Mexico; Robin V. McDowell and husband Tommy of New Mexico; Ruby Elaine Oliver and husband Keith of New Mexico; Tommie Pike and husband Aarron of Texas. Two sisters Gladys Pierson and husband Duke and Barnie Elder. 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. Robert will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
