Nellie Josephine (Allen) Rice

Nellie Allen Rice celebrated her heavenly reward November 10, 2024, when she passed away peacefully from this life. Nellie was born to Clyde and Mertie Bell Allen on July 9, 1927 in Comanche, Texas. She was preceded in death by her brothers Joe, Bill, George and John Allen and sisters Eulene Morgan, Grace Sparks, Minnie Allen, Neva Howard and Edna Buckmaster. Nellie was active in the Hamilton Community including the Extension Homemakers for over 40 years and a member of the Providence Piecemakers Quilting Group. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and Littleville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years. She was secretary of the Hamilton Baptist Association and then went on to do Nursing Home Ministry for many years. Her grandchildren have fond memories of going with her to sing and minister on Sunday mornings. She loved going to Paisano Baptist Encampment in West Texas every summer for many years. She is survived by her son, Wesley and wife Mary Rice. Daughter Laura and husband Chuck Bridge. Grandchildren Kendra and husband Grant Garrett, Kyle Rice, Scott and wife Mary Kate Rice, Melody and husband Dylan Smith. Great-grandchildren, Evan Smith, Braelyn, Adelyn and Emery Rice, Asher, Truman, Shepherd and Hawthorne Garrett.

Funeral Service will be held at the Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton, Texas on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The graveside service will be in Alpine, Texas on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Elm Grove Cemetery.
