Katherine Lois Grant Olson is the daughter of Minnie Lois Shipman Grant and Elmer Davis Grant. She had one brother, Elmer Otis Grant. Born in 1922 Katherine grew up in Hamilton and remained a dedicated Hamiltonian. Family often teased her about being a great genealogy source of local families. After briefly attending North Texas State Teachers College, she was a lifelong fan of her beloved school. Katherine married Ollie Joseph Olson of Walnut Springs in 1950, and they had two children, Joseph Lynn and Kathy Jane. A devoted wife and mother, she always made time for band concerts, teaching Sunday school at First Baptist, volunteering for school functions and baking. She was a great source of cheer and encouragement to her family and loved ones, and she made her home a place full of love, warmth and security.
After 50 years of service at the Lone Star Gas Company, Katherine retired. In her free time she enjoyed shopping, baking and occasionally traveling. She loved meeting friends for coffee so she could catch up with area news. When she began helping with local elections, her greatest joy was seeing neighbors and meeting new people. Katherine is proceeded by her parents, her husband, Ollie, and son, Joseph Lynn Olson; brother, Otis and his wife, Margaret. Katherine is survived by her daughter Kathy J. Lyons and husband Dick, stepson Ollie R. Olson and wife Mary, grandson Michael Olson, granddaughter Regina Olson Long and her husband Brady, and many nieces and nephews.
