Glen Horner, passed from this life May 10, 2023, in Hamilton, Texas from recent cancer and complications. He was born January 27, 1934, in Indian Gap, Texas to the late Ernest Lee Horner and Edith Lillian Stewart Horner of Indian Gap, Texas. He married Betty Ruth Hamilton in Hamilton, Texas on February 3, 1954.
Mr. Horner worked for W. F. & J. F. Barnes Lumber Company in Hamilton for thirteen years, West Texas Produce in Cisco for about six months, Alexander Moulding Mill for two years in the Mill Plant, Anglin Office Equipment in Hamilton for five years as a salesman, and Alexander’s for twenty-seven years as a salesman. After retirement, he worked for one and a half years part-time in sales until Alexander’s closed.
He was a member of Park Heights church of Christ in Hamilton, Texas. He was a Deacon for many years. Mr. Horner enjoyed being with family and friends, going to Storm’s in the mornings for breakfast with his buddies, exercising at the Hamilton Wellness Center, drinking coffee, and eating donuts or brownies with the men at their C.A.V.E. (Citizens Against Virtually Everything) meeting every Saturday morning at the church annex. Glen also enjoyed church fellowship activities and trips, and supporting the Hamilton Bulldogs in football, basketball, and volleyball for years. He always sat with families at the hospital when their loved one had surgery, visited while in the hospital, and called to check on those who were sick. Everyone knew they would get a Birthday card from him. He had cards ready to mail up to the very end.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Edith Horner, brother Darrell Ray Horner, his wife Betty of fifty-three years, his in-laws Jim Leslie Hamilton and Willie Ola Bynum Hamilton, brother-in-law Billy Hamilton all of Hamilton, sister-in-law Sue Beard and nephew Tommy Beard both of Groesbeck, Texas, and son-in-law Kenneth Miller of Proctor, Texas.
Glen is survived by his son Bobby Horner (Tammy) of Waco, his daughter Deborah Miller of Proctor, grandchildren Jerod Horner (Dallas) of Irving, Megan Crowell (Seth) of Lindale, Betsy McKinzie (Matt) of Hamilton, great grandchildren Jackson, Finn, and Jemma Crowell of Lindale, Katy McKinzie of Hamilton, and sister-in-law Sharon Warlick (George) of Hamilton.
