I have many fond memories of “Ms. Chapman” in the early-mid eighties in Grand Bank, NL . She was my choir director at St. Alban’s Anglican Church and was also involved in the guiding movement. She was very generous with her time when as a young girl I would sing at family and friend weddings and she would assist me with song selection and practice.  I remember her as a kind woman with much musical talent. RIP

To Shirley's family and friends, my sincere condolences on the loss of a most wonderful woman! Shirley and I met years ago through the Royal College of Church Organists, RCCO.  I was the Music Director at a neighbouring United Church. I highly valued Shirley's  support and enthusiasm for all things church music!
Church governance changes lessened opportunities for direct contact, but nothing can ever take away special memories of her. 
May you be blessed with fond memories that nothing in this world can ever destroy.

I got to know Shirley a few years ago when I participated in the choir trips to England with the Cathedral Singers of Ontario.  Shirley was a great companion on those trips and we had fun times.  I live in northwestern Ontario so wasn't able to keep closer touch but Shirley was always the same when we got together and would keep me updated from time to time about life in her domain.  We were both quite involved with the Royal Canadian College of Organists and Shirley sat on the scholarship committee which dealt with promoting the study of the organ, particularly for young people.  Shirley met my husband to be in London, England last January when we sang at St Paul's Cathedral. I wanted her to come to my wedding, but it wasn't to be.
It was a joy to know you, Shirley.   I know you will be singing with me, beside me as usual at the next Choral Evensong.  Nancy Wallace

Shirley came into my life when we were students residing at McAuley Hall, while attending Memorial University, in St. John's.  From the first introduction, we all knew there was something very special about Shirley.  She arrived with a sewing machine and shared her talents so happily with us all.  I will remember her generosity, her kindness to me and her ready smile.

I know you have lost a very warm and beautiful member of your family and community.  My condolences on your loss.

please accept our sincere condolences on her passing.  The friendship between us began as we both left NL to attend Mount Allison University in Sackville,, NB where we both studied music.   Throughout the years we have visited, talked on the phone, attended each other’s wedding (our husbands became part of this friendship), acknowledged birthdays, wrote letters, messaged and emailed.  Regardless  of the time between visits, the connection and friendship remained.  Our last visit together was at Shirley’s condo on September 23.  We had a lovely chat and visit.  Shirley, may you Rest in Peace and may you continue to make beautiful music.

Norma and Bill, sending our condolences on Shirley’s passing.  It was a pleasure to meet your beloved sister, numerous times, when she would visit Stephenville.  I will never forget her smile, her kind demure and yummy blueberry buckle cake thingy.  I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Shirley talk about her church choir and their recents trips and future trips, as we would walk Winnie around the lower block.  Winnie will miss Auntie Shirley and her love and snuggles and those care packages filled with doggie stuff for her.   Shirley,  I have no  doubt you are playing the piano and singing in heavens choir.
