Rita Edwards

Sadness here on earth but rejoicing in heaven! Finally released from the bonds of the disease that took her away from us these past few years, Rita has joined her beloved husband, Ray, with whom she enjoyed almost 76 years of wedded bliss until his passing in 2017.

Rita is also predeceased by her daughter, Karen Benevides (late Joe) and grandson J.D. Pauls, as well as her parents, Victor and Florence Miles, her brothers Ray Miles (Marion), Robert Miles (late Eileen), and Harold Miles (late Shirley), and her sister Shirley Barton (late Bobby).

Left behind to carry on her legacy are her remaining children, Donna Astoorian (late Dave), Shirley Ellement (late Derek), Ray (Shirley), and Wayne (Corinne), along with 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. We will forever cherish the memory of a devoted wife, loving mother, and beloved grandmother, who enriched all of our lives.

Thank you to everyone who kept Mom in their thoughts and prayers over the past years. Special thanks go to the staff of St. Peter’s at Chedoke and to Jessica at Compassion First, for their extraordinary care of Mom.

Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Thursday, October 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and will continue on Friday, October 21st at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle, 1355 Upper Wellington St., from 10 am until time of the Celebration of Life at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please remember your favourite charity.
